The podcast “Cultivating Climate Action” is now available with its first three episodes, in which guest experts explain—drawing on concrete experiences—how Climate-Smart Agriculture can transform agri-food production in today’s context.

San José, Costa Rica, July 14, 2025 (IICA) – The Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), the Platform for Climate Action on Agriculture (PLACA), and the World Bank have announced a partnership to launch a new podcast aimed at promoting dialogue, learning, and reflection on Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA).

This innovative agricultural approach to food production focuses on increasing agricultural productivity while reducing greenhouse gas emissions and adapting agri-food production to changing climate scenarios. The podcast series “Cultivating Climate Action” seeks to explore how CSA can help reduce the impact of climate variability on agri-food production while ensuring global food security.

“Cultivating Climate Action” is already live with its first three episodes and will continue to feature one or two experts per episode, who will explain the concept of CSA and its relevance in today’s world through concrete experiences.

The goal is to spread the word on this new perspective for agriculture, encourage reflection, deepen knowledge, and raise awareness of the importance of making CSA the standard for food production, in order to foster the systematic adoption of this kind of agriculture. The podcast series will include, among other topics, findings from CSA studies conducted by the World Bank as part of the Initiative for Sustainable Forest Landscapes (ISFL) and will focus on experiences in Latin America.

“We are excited to begin this work, which, thanks to the contributions of the three partner institutions, will no doubt make a difference in the generation and dissemination of knowledge on this critical topic,” said Diego Arias Carballo, Agriculture and Food Manager for Latin America at the World Bank.

“Agriculture faces the challenge of being innovative and ensuring food for all, while making the necessary adjustments to be more environmentally responsible. Efforts such as this new communications product are extremely valuable, as they modernize the narrative around agriculture,” said Manuel Otero, Director General of IICA.

We invite our entire community to discover “Cultivating Climate Action,” listen to our episodes, and share them so that this initiative can make a far-reaching impact on the sustainability of agri-food systems in Latin America.
