The three-day AIM for Climate Summit has attracted public policymakers, industry leaders, producers, civil society representatives, scientists and researchers from across the world. Marilyn Hershey, a rural leader who strives to be a voice for U.S. dairy farmers, is named IICA Leader of Rurality of the Americas

Hershey is the first woman to have been appointed to her current position as Chair of Dairy Management Inc., the association of United States dairy farmers that has spearheaded a promotional, research and educational program on the sector to encourage greater milk consumption in the country. It is funded by farmers and the industry.

In Costa Rica, IICA, CGIAR and the World Bank hosted a dialogue among regional agricultural innovation initiatives, national innovation systems of the Americas and other private sector stakeholders to discuss ways to enhance research and knowledge transfer to producers throughout the hemisphere.

More than 100 specialists have come together for this event - the Regional Dialogue on Science, Technology and Innovation in Agrifood Systems of Latin America and the Caribbean, including representatives from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, CGIAR (a global research partnership for a food-secure future, dedicated to transforming food, land, and water systems in a climate crisis), the World Bank, FAO, IICA and other international organizations.
