Launched by IICA and Rattan Lal, the world’s leading authority in soil sciences, the initiative combines efforts to tackle soil degradation, while improving productivity, agricultural sustainability and the well-being of the population.

During an interview with the program Agro América, broadcast by Brazilian TV channel AgroMais, the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of Argentina underscored the need to discuss how to provide economic support for the conservation of ecosystems such as the Amazon or the Gran Chaco Americano.

The group includes representatives from the private sector, scientists, state entities, civil society organizations and international bodies. IICA will act as Secretariat for the alliance, which has decided to undertake the fight against a pest that is challenging a key crop for food security.
