    The award was presented at a ceremony held in Asunción, attended by the Director General of IICA, Manuel Otero, and the representative in Paraguay of the hemispheric organization for agricultural development and rural welfare, Gabriel Rodríguez. Also present was the former Paraguayan Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Santiago Bertoni.

  • IICA Director General receives honorary doctorate from the Universidad Nacional de Asunción (UNA) for “invaluable” contributions to agriculture in the region

    The Argentine veterinarian received the award, which was presented to him by UNA Rector Zully Vera, for his “invaluable contributions to agricultural development in the region” at a ceremony held in the University’s library, before an audience of government representatives and senior officials from academia and local agricultural institutions.
  • Forum of Female Ministers, Deputy Ministers, and Senior Officials organized by IICA highlights the importance of measuring care work to bring visibility to the contributions of rural women in agri-food systems

    The 5th Edition of the Permanent Forum of Female Ministers, Deputy Ministers, and Senior Officials of the Americas (FOPEMA), organized by IICA, reached consensus on this and other matters during a meeting attended by more than 75 high-level leaders, including ministers and deputy ministers from Agriculture and Women’s Affairs ministries.

    The publication was presented during the Fifth Meeting of the Permanent Forum of Female Ministers, Deputy Ministers and Senior Officials of the Americas (FOPEMA), promoted by IICA in which women political leaders discuss and propose priority gender and women’s issues in a sector that has traditionally been almost entirely male-dominated.
