    Organized by USAID and the Pacific Council on International Policy, the discussion will take place on Wednesday, 8 June in Los Angeles, United States, as a parallel event to the Summit of the Americas, which will be attended by Heads of State and Government of countries in the hemisphere.

    WFO, which is based in Rome, and IICA signed an agreement to pursue initiatives focusing on resilience, training and horizontal cooperation for the Hemisphere’s agriculture sector.

    U.S. climatologist, scientist and researcher, Cynthia Rosenzweig expressed her views in a meeting of Ministers and Secretaries of Agriculture of the Americas to discuss climate action initiatives for the transformation of the sector.
  • Rattan Lal to lead consensus-building dialogue on agriculture and the environment in the Americas ahead of COP27

    The announcement was made by the Director General of IICA, Manuel Otero, during a meeting held on Tuesday, which brought together about twenty Secretaries and Ministers of Agriculture of the countries of the Americas. Representatives of 34 countries discussed joint approaches to the urgent need to transform the agriculture sector in response to climate change and requested that the inter-American organization coordinate regional consensus-building efforts with a view to including agriculture in international negotiations on climate change
  • Agrifood enterprises commit to working more closely with farmers in view of the threat to food security posed by the crisis in Eastern Europe

    At the invitation of IICA, representatives of the companies were engaged in a dialogue on the challenges posed by the situation. They agreed that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine had already triggered increases in the prices of agricultural products, fertilizers and energy, demonstrating once again the importance of public policies in support of family farmers, who are the main food suppliers in the region.
