  • In the run-up to COP28, increasing importance of digitalization in agriculture highlighted by actions in Colombia and Mexico under IICA program that promotes sustainable development in rural areas

    The introduction of digital technologies is, undoubtedly, a prerequisite for transforming agrifood systems and making them more sustainable and resilient in the face of climate change. These technologies enable stakeholders to make much more efficient use of external inputs and natural resources, thus helping to reduce environmental impacts.

    The Ministers of Agriculture of Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru signed a Declaration presented during the most recent session of the Andean Agricultural Forum, organized with support from IICA. Inter-agency committees will support the fulfillment of the agricultural agenda proposed in the document (see Ministerial Declaration).
