  • Agricultural federations of the Americas and IICA agree to promote science and innovation to advance sustainable agriculture and increase the productivity of agrifood systems

    Organized in Costa Rica by IICA and the Federation of Chambers of Agriculture and Agroindustry, the Meeting of Agricultural Federations of the Americas has concluded. It brought together more than 40 participants, the leaders of 20 federations from across the continent.
  • Ministers of Agriculture of the Americas attending the IICA Executive Committee Meeting warn that the region will need to bolster its agrifood systems in view of the challenging international context 

    The agricultural authorities of the Americas and representatives of the academic and private sectors began a two-day working session at IICA Headquarters in San Jose, Costa Rica, on the occasion of the 44th Regular Meeting of the Executive Committee, one of the governing bodies of the hemispheric organization. The discussions will address the most transcendental issues affecting the future of agriculture.

    Former Ecuadorian Foreign Minister Gustavo Manrique, the architect of the largest debt-for-nature swap, visited the IICA Headquarters and praised its contributions to agricultural sustainability

    Manrique stated that he believes IICA has been "re-founded" to adapt to the modern realities of agriculture and sustainability and that the Institute "has focused on what both young people and farmers need and want today”.
