BayG.A.P. – bringing knowledge and opportunity to more

The outbreak of TR4 in Latin America has functioned as an ‘SOS call’ to expand the BayG.A.P. training and certification program in this region.

The BayG.A.P. service programme aims to promote good agricultural practices through training and capacity-building on key topics, including food safety, waste management, irrigation, crop protection, traceability and more. Crucially, the program has added a specific module on biosecurity for TR4, covering the symptoms of the disease, how it spreads, preventive measures and farming systems that can help to manage it.

The more farmers adopt these biosecurity protocols, the more we can combine our efforts to slow the spread of TR4.

But that’s not all!

The BayG.A.P. programme has a wide range of benefits for food producers and those further along the supply chain.

It can help farmers increase their yield without compromising quality. It can support farmers in meeting market requirements, so they can sell more food. As a recognised certification, in collaboration with GlobalG.A.P, it also gives farmers a greater chance of selling their food to major retailers. Food chain partners can be assured that by buying from a BayG.A.P. certified producer, they are sourcing safe, sustainable and high-quality produce.

The bottom line is that BayG.A.P. can lead to a host of economic and social benefits for farmers, as well as helping stop the spread of diseases..
